For that perfect combination of outdoor space and delicious food, check out Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich’s Tarry Lodge. The restaurant’s terrace (called The Terrazzo at Tarry Lodge) is clean, bright and airy. Planters line the perimeter of the space, with floor-to-ceiling white latticework serving as walls. There’s plenty of sunlight through the pergola-style beamed ceiling, while overhead fans are at the ready when the temps rise. The space seats about 40 and offers a sunny venue for dinner or weekend brunch (they also handle private parties and events). While the Terrazzo debuted last fall, this April was the first time it fully opened, offering the full restaurant offering. The menu at Tarry Lodge is made for sharing, so order a few things. Some of our favorites: The meatballs, jalapeños, tomato and fontina pizza; the guanciale, black truffles and sunny side egg pizza (try it!). We also loved the osso buco alla Milanese with barlotto or the bucatini all’amatriciana. Either way, order wine. The list is insanely thorough in variety and price, offering something for everyone. Try a $30 bottle of Verdicchio or go for a serious splurge on a $1,200 Super Tuscan. (And then let us know how good that bottle of Super Tuscan was so we can live vicariously through you.)
